Etsy Fee & Profit Calculator

Find out what each Etsy order really earns: transaction fee, payment processing for your country, listing fee, regulatory operating fee and Offsite Ads – on item price plus shipping – together with material, shipping, returns and VAT.

In short: Etsy fees = (transaction % + regulatory % + processing %) × order total (item + shipping + gift wrap) + processing fixed fee + listing fee; profit = net revenue − product − shipping − Etsy fees − ads − returns.

Etsy publishes the listing fee ($0.20) and the Offsite Ads cap in US$ and converts them at the current market rate. Enter today’s rate – without it the listing fee is left out.

Offsite Ads

15 % below $10,000 sales in 365 days (you can opt out), 12 % from $10,000 (mandatory). Only on orders that came through an ad.

Etsy then charges a currency conversion fee – here on the order total.

How to use the Etsy fee calculator

  1. Choose your shop. The country of your bank account decides the payment processing fee. Enter today’s US dollar rate for the listing fee and switch on Offsite Ads if they apply to you.
  2. Enter price and costs. Item price, the shipping and gift wrap the buyer pays, your material or purchase price, your real shipping cost, advertising, returns and other costs.
  3. Read the result. You see every Etsy fee, profit per order, margin, the order total and the item price you need to break even or to reach your target margin.

Taken from the official Etsy Help Center. Fees change – the date shows our last check. Fixed fees in US dollars are converted by Etsy at the market rate, so the calculator asks for the rate instead of guessing it.

How it is calculated

Order totalitem price + shipping charged + gift wrap
Etsy fees(transaction % + regulatory % + processing %) × order total + processing fixed fee + listing fee
Offsite Adsad rate × order total × share of ad orders (max. cap per order)
Contributionnet revenue − product − shipping − Etsy fees − ads − returns − other

Fees are charged on what the buyer pays for the order (incl. VAT in your price). Etsy charges VAT on its own fees where required – VAT-registered sellers usually reclaim it, so it is not included. Returns are expected values: refunded orders still cost shipping and advertising.

Frequently asked questions

What fees does Etsy charge per sale?

A transaction fee on the order total (item, shipping and gift wrap), a payment processing fee that depends on the country of your bank account, and the listing fee for the sold item. In some countries a regulatory operating fee is added, and Offsite Ads cost a share of the order if the buyer came through an ad.

Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?

Yes. The transaction fee, the payment processing fee and the regulatory operating fee are all charged on the shipping the buyer pays. That is why the calculator asks for the shipping you charge separately from your own shipping cost.

Why do I need to enter an exchange rate?

Etsy publishes fixed fees such as the listing fee in US dollars and converts them at the current market rate. We do not guess a rate – enter today’s rate and the listing fee is converted exactly like Etsy does it.

Can I avoid Offsite Ads?

Only while your shop has never made more than the sales threshold in 365 days – then you can opt out. Above it, Offsite Ads are mandatory at a lower rate. You only pay for orders that came through an ad, so enter the share of such orders.

Where do the fees come from?

From the official Etsy Help Center, with the date we last checked it. The tables below the calculator show every number we use.
