Etsy fees explained: listing, transaction, payment and Offsite Ads

Per sold order Etsy charges a listing fee of $0.20, a transaction fee of 6.5% of the order total (shipping included) and payment processing – for a seller with a German bank account 4% plus €0.30. For the example order that is €3.43 before any Offsite Ads (11.5% of what the buyer pays).

Choose your country, enter price, shipping and costs – the Etsy calculator adds all fees and shows the contribution per order.

The fees on every order

Rates from the official Etsy Help Center pages listed under “Sources” (checked 2026-10-21). They can change, so check the dates and Etsy’s fee page before you rely on them.

  • Listing fee: $0.20 for every item that sells (also for each further unit of the quantity and for auto-renewals that sell). It is quoted in US dollars and converted into your currency.
  • Transaction fee: 6.5% of the order total, which includes the shipping you charge and gift wrap.
  • Payment processing: depends on the country of your bank account and is charged on the order total including shipping. For a German bank account: 4% + €0.30 per order.
  • Regulatory operating fee: only in the countries Etsy lists (here the UK, France, Italy, Spain and Canada), as a percentage of item, shipping and gift wrap. For a German bank account it is 0 %.

Optional and conditional: Offsite Ads and currency conversion

Offsite Ads: if an order comes through one of Etsy’s ads off Etsy, Etsy charges 15% of the order total, or 12% for sellers with at least $10,000.00 in sales in the last 365 days. The fee is capped at $100.00 per order.

Currency conversion: if the currency of your listing differs from the currency of your bank account, Etsy adds 2.5%.

Table: fees by item price (German bank account, no Offsite Ads)

Same shipping charged to the buyer (€4.90). The $0.20 listing fee is not included because it is quoted in US dollars.

What you can change

  • Shipping: the transaction and payment fees also apply to the shipping you charge. Shipping is not free of fees.
  • Price level: the fixed part of the payment fee weighs more on small orders (see the table).
  • Currency: listing in the currency of your bank account avoids the conversion fee.
  • Advertising: plan for the Offsite Ads fee on the orders it brings, not only for your own ad spend.

Worked examples: Item for €24.90 plus €4.90 shipping

German bank account, purchase price €6.00, shipping cost €4.50, 3 % returns, 19 % VAT. Example numbers, not data from a real shop; the listing fee in US dollars is left out.

Common mistakes and how to fix them

Calculating the fees on the item price only

Why it matters: Etsy charges its percentage fees on the order total including the shipping you charge.

Fix: Enter shipping and gift wrap as part of the order total, as the Etsy calculator does.

Ignoring Offsite Ads

Why it matters: On an order that comes through an Offsite Ad the fee is a large share of the price and can wipe out the contribution.

Fix: Check your contribution with the Offsite Ads fee and price products so they still earn money.

Using outdated rates

Why it matters: Etsy changes its fees; a table from last year may no longer be right.

Fix: Look at the date of the source and compare with Etsy’s current fee page.
